Twitter, review and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Frio e chuva!

Cold and rain! Yesterday was beautiful and sunny and today it rains and the cold is unbearable. They say tomorrow will be worse…
This might be a long post because I want to tell you about the Portuguese soaps and I will include my weekly twitter post as well, first.

Food up and down. Cakes for Christmas and Saturday’s lunch with leftovers for Sunday. The rain that decides to annoy us in the middle of the week, but then it got better and now it’s worse again. Cute chickens that are part of a very big Nativity scene in Amoreiras shopping and some lights from the neighbourhood I live in (Campo de Ourique). simple but pretty and you can’t see the sparkly lights in the picture, unfortunately. And finally one of my outfits for the cold.
Lovely brown, Victorian type shoes by Aerosoles/ Brown tights by Primark and brown socks by Calzedonia/ Brown skirt by Mango/ Comfy and pretty pearly white sweater by Primark/ Short beige cloak by Shop1

Vamos aos sabonetes!
On, to the soaps!

Left is propolis and right is pumice stone. I got these two soaps because due to their properties they would be good for oily and ace prone skin, propolis for example has anti-bacterial benefits cleansing the skin deeply. Pumice could be good to exfoliate my face once or twice a week. I used these two for almost 4 weeks straight. The propolis soap I used two times a week, morning and night for one whole week and then just at night, to cleanse properly and remove any trace of make-up. Pumice soap I used very gently once every three days, in the morning. My skin felt very clean and fresh! However, after two weeks and half of usage my skin began feeling too dehydrated and made it impossible for me to use my specific acne treatment that contains salicylic acid. I’ve been using Neostrata Gel Plus since October and it burned a lot when I applied it to my face every night.  So I stopped using the soaps.
Overall, the soaps made my skin a bit less oily and it looked better. In my own opinion, I do believe they work, but maybe in different circumstances. I would like to try them again in the summer and when I stop using the Neostrata treatment because it’s already very harsh. Too many harsh treatments at once for your skin won’t work and will probably make things worse.
In conclusion, although I stopped using them, I haven’t given up on them yet!
They are a Portuguese product from a Portuguese brand Ach Brito.

And of course to finish this post:
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!
Best Wishes and Happy Holidays.

Xau gente, fiquem bem! Até ao meu próximo post!

Weekly twitter from 9 to 15 of December of 2013

Grandfather’s surgery went well and he came home Saturday before lunch. We returned to see the surgeon on Monday and he said everything was fine; he just can’t carry a lot of weight and make too much efforts. He feels pain when he sits and gets up, but apart from that he feels well. Grandmother however has been complaining about her back and arms, so I’ve been a bit busier and a bit more tired.
The weather however has been annoying. It turned grey and rainy, just as we are getting closer to Christmas and it will continue so, unfortunately. And speaking of Christmas, everyone went crazy this year! Last year I realized that a lot of people were going through financial ordeals; they bought very few things and mostly were less expensive and needed items. This year the opposite is happening. It looks as if everyone is afraid this will be the last year they will ever be able to afford and buy presents! Given the current financial problems, it frightens me a lot to see people blowing out their money and walking around with huge amounts of presents…

Passemos às fotos do twitter:
On to the twitter photos:

The lunch in the middle picture tastes so well. Simple but so good. Bottom pictures show that Christmas is everywhere, from the Hospital (left photo) to the coffee shop we go to. The last picture on the right is a sweet reindeer that I ate at the coffee shop. Top row are pictures of the box I put Dida’s present in and the Liebster Award. The two photos that are left are just me; the one in the middle row already shows my new haircut. I desperately needed one! My hair has more volume and I feel lighter.

I wanted to talk to everyone about the soaps I posted last month, I believe. The Portuguese made soaps. I had to stop using them, so I wanted to make a tiny review about them and explain the reason why I stopped using them. Hope I can do it this week!

The Liebster Award December 2013! And a big thank you.

Liebster Award!
I was completely taken by surprise! I had seen this on other blogs but I never thought someone would nominate me, of all people! I wonder if I will ever reach the 200 followers…
A girl can dream!
First of all I will thank sweet blogger “The Certified Latebloomer”  http://thecertifiedlatebloomer.blogspot.pt/. I really did not expect this and don’t forget to check out her lovely blog with good reviews. The latest one on a Skin79 BB cream just made me want to buy it!

I’m new to this, this is my first time, but from what I can tell it’s a really good way to discover other awesome blogs. I know I have! The rules are quite plain and simple, still I’m quite nervous… I hope I’ll do a decent job.

So now it’s time to answer the question from sweet Latebloomer:

I’m new to this, this is my first time, but from what I can tell it’s a really good way to discover other awesome blogs. I know I have! The rules are quite plain and simple, still I’m quite nervous… I hope I’ll do a decent job.
So now it’s time to answer the question from sweet Latebloomer:

1 Favorite type of music and what song you’re addicted to right now?
Tricky question for me. 2 types: Japanese Rock and Korean Pop. I know, very different, but it is how it is. And strangely enough the song I’m addicted to now, is: “Saki Midareshi Hana”, one of the opening theme songs for the OVAs of Prince of Tennis.

2 Cooking or baking lately? What was the weirdest reaction that you got when someone tasted your creation?
I’m more into baking and trying out vegan type desserts. Actually the weirdest reaction I got was from my grandfather when he said the he really liked the oatmeal cookies I had made. I could see in his face that he did like it, that he wasn’t just being nice to me.

3 I always ask this, what is your favorite flavor of ice cream? Or are you a cake person?
Again, can’t I be both??? Summer I do tend to eat more ice cream than cake, but when the cold comes along… cake calls out to me!
Favourite flavour of icecream is called scrock (I buy it at an icecream shop close to where I live and it’s the name they gave it). It contains nuts and almonds; it’s very crunchy and not too sweet.

4 What is your biggest dream in life that you think is hard to achieve?
My biggest dream is to be happy, very happy and unfortunately it’s getting harder and harder to achieve it!

5 Hey since it's Christmas/Holiday Season, what is on the top of your wishlist?
On the top of my wishlist is the eyeshadow palette by Etude House from the & Rose collection. But I don’t seem to find it anywhere now…

6 Biggest fear or fascination in life?
My biggest fear is losing my loved ones. I’m sorry for this answer but this has been a bit of a harsh period this year with grandfather’s surgery and finding out that family has been tricking you, hurting you and stabbing you in the back.

7 Why did you start blogging anyway?
I decided to try and trade my paper diary for a computer one. A place where I could just write what I thought, almost pour my soul into to it, and if people didn’t like it, they didn’t have to read it. Of course it’s not the same, but since I do like to write, even if it’s about make-up it works really well to relieve my stress. And it has allowed mw to meet wonderful and very interesting people, so I’m glad I started blogging.

8 Bookworm?  Movie goer? What is the best book/movie that you've read/seen so far?
I’ve always been the four-eyed bookworm! Books just speak to me and you can let your own imagination run wild. Truth be told, when I’m reading, it’s just the same as watching a movie in my head.
My favourite book would be by Sophia de Mello Breyner AndresenThe Danish Knight”. I read it as child and could never forget it.

9 The one product that you can't live without is?
I guess I will have to choose soap and any type of cleanser! My whole body needs to be clean, hygiene for me is extremely important.

10 The best place that you've been and always been dreaming of coming back
I haven’t travelled that much, or that far, but I know I would love to go back to Paris. I’ve been there twice, but just for a few hours and it was excruciating the fact that I couldn’t fully enjoy the city.

11 Let's be cheesy, who is your ultimate crush?
So shoot me if I’m undecided again, but they are both so different, but both so good!
Nichkhun from 2PM and DuJun from BEAST. Since I don’t know them personally, I can’t really tell you who I like best…

Questions are done! Now my questions, probably some have been asked before, so forgive  me for that. I’ll try to be original, unlike my silly answers:

1 What was your childhood’s favourite makeup or skincare product to play with? (apparently I liked moisturizers and lipsticks)
2  What’s your favourite season of the year?
3 What’s your favourite fashion item to use throughout the entire year? (I would choose a classy shoulder bag)
4 What is the one makeup item (just makeup, skin care not included) you couldn’t leave the house without applying? (lately for me it’s eyeshadow, my eyes need a bit of colour)
5 Do you practice any sports? And what which is your favourite? (I LOVE basketball but I’m no good at it, so I just stick with swimming)
6 Sorry but I have to ask, any favourite anime?
7 Who do you admire amongst your beloved ones?  (I think you know my answer. Yes, it’s my grandmother. She raised my mother and I, always helped my other two sisters, always tried to keep the family united, all of this while making HUGE sacrifices and putting everyone else ahead of her!)
8  What type of fragrances do you like? (I like fresh fragrances and not to sweet)
Do like horror and terror literature and movies? (I do)
10  If you had a pet, would you dress it up? Or if you do, do you dress you pet in pretty or cool clothes? (If I had one, I would most certainly torture the poor baby and dress it up every day!)
11 Do you still keep a paper diary, the ones that had a lock and a key? ( I do)

Searching for blogger to nominate was difficult because a few have just been nominated and most of the ones I follow are actually way above the 200 followers. That will change, through this award I will visit a lot of new blogs.
And here are the NOMINEES:

Whitechoco

Leeshionable

Keep Calm and Beautify

At First Wink

Diamond Daisy

Inspiration by Stina

Life is Beautiful

Heylinni

Sachi Life

Thoughts of A Lipstick Monster

Beautifying Lifee

I have to admit it wasn’t as hard as I thought and it was quite fun!
This was the best I could do. My grandfather’s surgery is tomorrow and it will take a couple of days to tell the bloggers that I nominated them, unfortunately. At least my mind has been quite busy for the last couple of hours while writing this post.
Hope I did everything right and if not, please forgive my first time faults and mistakes.
Thank you for nominating me and thanks for following and commenting!

Weekly twitter from 2 to 8 of December

Another week of twitter! I’ve been busy and lacking spirit to write in my blog. I don’t to talk about the depressing things that have been happening; I don’t think it’s worth it and I want my blog to be cheerful and happy.

Aqui estão as fotos:
So here are the photos:

Três fotos de comida! Doces broas para o avô que fui comprar depois de uma das minhas idas à natação; castanhas para nos aquecer e em baixo à direita, o nosso típico caldo verde e uma sandes de requeijão!!!  Estava tão bom aquele almoço! A última foto mostra as iluminações numa das ruas principais de Cascais. São mais bonitas ao vivo, é certo, mas não se compara com anos passados. No entanto, estamos em época de contenção e o que realmente conta é o espírito natalício!

Three pictures of food! Sweets for grandfather (top left) that I picked up for him after going swimming; chestnuts to warm us and bottom right a typical Portuguese “Caldo Verde”soup and a sandwich  with  cottage cheese!!! Soooooo delicious!  Last one shows a main street in Cascais. The lights look prettier “in person”, still they don’t compare to past years, but then again it’s time to save money and it’s the Christmas spirit that matters!

Shopping malls are impossible to go to! Even on week days! Maybe in the morning, as soon as they open… Had to go there again today and it was a nightmare; I just wanted to return home.  Luckily, all our presents are bought already; we’re only missing an order from Korea that contains our mother’s present and Filipa’s present. I wanted them to arrive before Christmas, but I’m not too sure we’ll be that lucky…  as long as it arrives in one piece and with NO customs interference, we’ll be glad!

Weekly twitter from 18 of November to 1 of December!

Two week of twitter this time! Everything has been a bit confusing and busy. Grandfather has a surgery scheduled for the 11th (nothing very serious) and some family members have finally decided to show their true selves, so it’s been a bit chaotic having to deal with everything. Excuses apart, here are the photos from 18 to 24 of November:

Three photos of food, since I can’t live without it, unfortunately. The ice-cream is from MacDonalds. It’s a bit sweet but it’s good and probably the only thing I would eat regularly there. It’s a shame the bottom picture cannot show the clock properly. It’s incredibly gorgeous and very old. Top pictures show the Sanctuary of Fátima. I really want to go there again, it’s so peaceful and beautiful. And on the left is a pamphlet of the swimming pool I’ve been attending. I hadn’t realized how much I missed swimming. The first day I could hardly move my arms but it felt so good!

The weekly outfit:

Boots – at a Chinese store
Over knee socks – by Primark
Shorts – by Zara Kids
Cotton sweater – at a Chinese store
Thick cardigan – By Zara Kids, boys section

Now, last week’s photos: from 25 of November to the 1st of December:
Very simple! Margarida’s Christmas present that arrived from South Korea. The package contains 3 limited edition eyeshadows by Etude House. The colours are so gorgeous. And just plain me, at home, after my swimming session.

I have to admit that last week was vey disappointing, confusing and very sad. Supposedly you can’t choose your family. You CAN choose to keep them around you or not. Now I’m starting to wonder if I cut ties with the wrong family members and in the end, kept the monsters close to me instead… I just hope that my grandfather’s surgery works out alright because at least we have us three in our home. Guess I must really learn how to live alone, because after my Grandparents leave for good, I can’t count or trust anyone else. But I will be grateful for spending Christmas with just my Grandparents.
