Shiseido make-up remover

Still with the cold. Doesn’t seem to want to go away. Want to hit the beach and I can’t, especially since it looks like winter!
Today it’s just a small review on a product I DO NOT LIKE, unfortunately.

SHISEIDO The Skin Care INSTANT eye and lip make up remover.
Bought this product around winter to remove mascara, since the mascara I had at the time was really hard to remove. The one I had couldn’t take everything off and from rubbing my eyes a lot of lashes were starting to fall. It was around 28 euros but since it was SHISEIDO I thought it would be worth it, IT WASN’T!

Packaging: normal. I don’t have the box anymore but it was nothing special. Had the name, the ingredients list and instructions. Instruction also come in the bottle itself in different languages. Contains 125ml.

Texture: oily. It’s supposed to be an oil make up remover. As you can see it looks like water but has an oily texture. I have to be very careful and use it just where it’s needed because of my already oily skin type.

Would I buy this again: I most certainly will NOT BUY it again. When I bought it the sales lady assured me it would remove even waterproof mascara. I tried it with maybelline mascaras and then a cheaper one I got for about 2 euros. Removes neither of them. And if you noticed above I used big letters to emphasise the word “instant”. How is it possible? Expensive and very disappointing.
Unfortunately I do NOT recommend this product.

On to another note, I actually thought it would rain today. They sky became so dark when I went out in the morning. Now most of the clouds are gone and the sun can shine a bit.

My outfit for the day. Nothing special. The difference between this and a winter one is the fact that I’m not wearing tights to warm my legs! Ridiculous to wear something like this in July…

Thanks everyone!

Holika Holika Daily Garden Lemon cleansing foam

Hi everyone! The heat decided to show up at full strength for a couple of days, but it seems Thursday it will be gone and my chances of going to beach will once again disappear.
Oh well! Nothing you can do!

Today I will be reviewing a cleanser by the Korean brand Holika Holika. As you know I was used to using the My Beauty Diary strawberry cleanser and very much in love with the product. After my second purchase I decided to try another one. You never know, there might even be better out there with so many brands and different products to try!

I was running out of both cleanser and moisturizer and started searching for new ones to try. I researched reviews and came across a haul video where a very cute and interesting cream was showed. The package was adorable, all pink and pretty. The jelly type cream was very cool because when you did a hole with your finger the cream would start to close itself! So I decided to try it but only found it on taobao. So I thought I should try a cleanser of the same brand and found the Daily Garden on ebay! And it was cheaper than My Beauty Diary (Around 9$, if that much)! How nice!

Daily garden has 5 different cleansing foams for different purposes and different smells:
Green tea
Unfortunately I can’t find the seller anymore, he explained what each did. I do remember however that the lemon had exfoliating properties and removed dead skin, reason why I bought it.

Packaging: Very simple, a yellow tube with green designs and writing and a white cap. It contains 120ml. All written in Korean at the back. Although simple as it is, I find it cute and very easy to use. The cap can also be removed.

Fragrance: Has slight lemon smell, not strong at all.

Texture: Not liquidy and soft. It’s also yellow. As soon as you spread it turns into foam.

This amount should be more than enough. I started using a bit less after a couple of weeks

How to my way: Whenever I wash my face, usually morning and night. Wet face and then wipe my hands so they are almost dry. Squeeze needed amount onto hands and then spread all over my face. Massage a little and then rinse off with water! Easy!

Please excuse my horrible face!

Longevity: opened on the 5th of March 2012. It’s like this almost 4 months later using it every, twice a day. As you can there is still product in the tube so 4 months easily, although I already have another cleanser from Etude House waiting to be opened, BUT ONLY when this one runs out.

You can still see close to the cap there is still product to be used!

Would I buy this again: This time I did not. With the My Beauty Diary cleanser you could feel it did some exfoliation, very soft of course, but it was there. This one did not feel exfoliating at all when washing my face. My skin looked better and felt better with the other cleanser. However NO bad or allergic reaction whatsoever! Yes, it’s a good cleanser but for what I wanted it did not perform.

I hope this was helpful.
Take care everyone!

HOG Rally 2012

Wish I was there again!!!!
Saturday morning we woke up to go pick my mother and younger sister, Ipa was already with me. Plans ruined because we couldn’t enter the city after until 2 o’clock in the afternoon, because the parade of motorbikes was to be held throughout the streets of the city. So we didn’t leave. We thought the day was ruined. Mother was so anticipating this event!!!
Around 1 o’clock you could hear the police cars and then all of sudden a LOUD ROAR OF BIKES!!! The parade lasted for about 15 minutes and my sister recorded everything. Awesome and crazy bikes with lots of bikers and wives waving goodbye! One of them took the wife and two teenage daughters on the bike. They didn’t seem uncomfortable at all! My sister and I were mesmerized. I didn’t count on sooooooooo many people, didn’t even think all them would fit into the city’s streets. But they did. After it was over we ran to talk to the police to see if cars could get into the city again and they said yes. In a flash, but carefully because car accidents do happen, went to pick Mother and Margarida (the youngest one).
Turned out to be a good day. The bikers parked in the main street so people could see the awesome bikes and take pictures. My sister has her album on facebook so I will leave the link for everyone to see. Cascais was full!!! I can’t remember the last time I saw our tiny city (used to be a village, now it’s a city although nobody agrees to that) filled with people of all ages having fun in the sun. A great memory. Grandmother also enjoyed it, thankfully she was already recovered and went on a stroll.
Grandmother on the right, Mother on the left
COOL, AWESOME AND VERY NICE biker in the middle!
Me, Filipa, aka Ipa, and Margarida, aka Dida
This bike was huge and it was from Spain. The biker was nice because he was leaving in a hurry!
At night there was stage for concerts! We had no idea what bands would play and before 8 o’clock Mother and all three of her daughters, were more or less in the middle, not too close to the front but not at the back either. It started with Boot Led Zeppelin, still daylight. Those tight jeans… they should be forbidden. Unfortunately we didn’t take pictures of that, kind of forgot. A shame, really wanted to show you de VERY TIGHT jeans!
Here is a picture taken when this band was playing. The bikers right in front of us were having so much fun at one point!

Lots of drinks and food for everyone to enjoy!
Yes, also a lot of drunk people, BUT no harm and no fuss!
After Boot Led Zeppelin they gave out a few awards and thanked the team and organizers. In the mean time, night had fallen and gave way to (sound of drums) Ladies and Gentlemen… ELVIS PRESLEY. The men playing Elvis was really amazing, so amazing that the three of us (sisters) were behaving like little teenage girls screaming our lungs out for Elvis! Well, the youngest one IS 13 years old, but Ipa and me… shame!!!! He gave out scarves, came down from the stage to hand out directly to the people at the front row, and there Ipa went and got a pink scarf handed directly to her hand by him! And we screamed! And we jumped! And we behaved like horny little girls… SHAME!!! THE SHAME!!!!
And his outfits were so cool, this one had a peacock!
He was so awesome!!!!
After the great Elvis came Platinum The Live ABBA Tribute Show. Mother was delighted! The whole concert brought her a canopy of memories that you see in her eyes and face. I felt so happy that my mother was happy that night! They were awesome, the clothes were very much like the original. More tight pants, BUT unfortunately did not have the same effect, not for us anyway… XD So sorry ABBA fellas.
The thing that surprised me the most was how Dida reacted to all of this. She is 13 years old and I thought she wouldn’t like or know most of the artists or songs. I was very much mistaken!! She knew them and we all sang and danced to them.
Mother and my sisters had to sleep with us, the concert was over at around 1o’clock in the morning. The next day I went to take them home. Many bikers were also leaving but others stayed at least until Monday.

A great weekend for the whole family and I think that is to value. A lot of people don’t spend that much time with family, but I’ve come to cherish it because we never know when they will go.
Thanks everyone!!! Hope you enjoy reading as much as I have enjoyed writing!

Peace Boat June 2012 in Lisbon

It’s been a very long time, as usual…
Japanese class has ended for this year and grandmother is finally feeling better and can walk on her own again!
To celebrate the last class of the year some students gave a tiny guided tour through a few streets of the city of Lisbon to 15 Japanese visitors. These visitors have been going around the globe on a cruise called Peace Boat!!!! They only anchored here for a day, which of course is very little time, but still. We spent the whole day with Japanese people from all age groups. Extremely lovely and nice people! Lunch was Portuguese and around 6 o’clock they offered a traditional Japanese dinner on the cruise. It was a very fun day and really good experience!
My sister and I, together with a couple more class-mates were in charge of two young Japanese girls. They took SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many pictures!!!! And in the end they offered us two drink from Japanese vending machines from Kirin, my sister and I got the Kirin Lemon drink. Very good!!!!!!
Our group on the boat! Left is Minami san and on the right is Hikari san
Credit to Hikarin san for the photo!
It's amazing really. Hikari san is a ntural! She could strike a pose in seconds! Jealous...
Just outside the portuguese restaurant. Again the credit of the pictures goes to Hikari san, please don't use them!!!!

A very fun and educational Friday!
The great weekend didn’t end here but I will make another post on the HOG Rally 2012!

Lip Ice by Mentholatum review

Lovely month of May, or is it???? The weather is ruining my month! How is it possible to have such a wintery day in May?????? So depressed!!
Lip care by Mentholatum.
Cute packaging, right?

This is the second one and as you can see close to its end. It’s called Lip Ice because you feel your lips really fresh when applying it, almost like you used an ice cube! For me that is great. When the cold feeling wears off you will feel like you’ve used an oily product on your lips.
This one smells like strawberry but it’s not a very strong smell, I believe a lot of people could use it and it’s white although I was expecting a pink colour when I first got it. So that means no colour on your lips. They will become a bit shiny, with a hydrating feel to it.
I did like it very much and I did bought a second one. Leaves my lips very soft, but I do apply it throughout the day. It will last a couple of hours.
The reason I did not get the third one is because I wanted to try Clairs’s lip balms. My sister had bought one already and really like it so considering the price is almost the same, I decided to try the chocolate cupcake one. What happens is this: Lip Ice works great to use a coloured lipstick or gloss over it; the Claire’s one doesn’t. Meaning I will have to either buy the Lip Ice again or look for another one!

Young Skin review and "Me and family post"

Let’s start with the review!
Young Skin Plus Aloe Sheet Mask
Came as freebie on one of my latest purchases, but quite honestly I don’t remember which!!! They are available online, on ebay.
I don’t know this brand and I haven’t searched any reviews about it. It’s Korean and it reads “made in Korea” on the back.
This mask contains Aloe. However the smell is completely different from the My Beauty Diary Aloe mask!!! I can’t describe it exactly but it’s stronger.
Lots of liquid
No plastic comes attached to the mask to prevent parts from getting glued to each other and of course it’s much harder to unfold it!!! Must be very careful. However the sheet is stronger and thicker than the My Beauty Diary ones.
Still folded
Unfolded and it’s big
Instructions in English!!!!! Yay! How helpful! There are two ways to use these according to the instructions: for summer you should keep them in the refrigerator and for winter dip them into hot water 2 to 3 minutes before using (still inside the package of course). I tried the normal temperature one! In need of a mask so just used this one that was close to my skin care goodies in my room. Felt refreshing, but not as refreshing as the My Beauty Diary ones. In the end you still have a lot of liquid to massage the face until it absorbs everything.
Too big for my face. Bigger than My Beauty Diary
When I removed it my face looked a bit red but after absorbing everything it became normal. My skin didn’t feel smooth. After about 15 minutes however my skin started burning a little. So I guess these don’t work for me and after a couple of hours before going to bed my face started to look red again…
Between Young Skin and My Beauty Diary, the second is definitely better for my skin!!!!

Now for the “Me and family Post”.
How was Easter everyone??? Lots of chocolate eggs??
Ours was not bad considering our grandmother got run over by a car a week before!!!!!!!! Will take so much time for her to be able to do what she did before and run all over the place filled with energy! She can hardly move and can’t sleep on the bed, has to spend most of the time sitting down which is terrible and she can’t rest properly. Well at least the Easter lunch went well with a lot of help since grandmother can’t do much. And at least we were all together!
From left to right: middle sister Ipa chan, “unseeable” grandmother, grandfather and mother. (I was taking the pictures) and little sister was away with her father.
Two pictures and couldn’t get grandmother on camera! Well I don’t think she wanted to be seen looking a bit down. Just hope she recovers although the doctors said it will take very long and a few problems will remain.

Skin Food Aloe Sun BB cream petit review

Sunny day and a bit hot!
Today I tried my sample of the Skin Food Aloe Sun BB Cream.
Used the whole sample. Didn’t have much, apparently…
Shade: The sample was colour #1. Not greyish like the Skin79, more on the pink side actually. On my face it looks quite pink. I did not like the result very much.
I really liked the colour when I looked at this, but then…
Blended , did not like it so much and you can see that it’s a bit on the pink side.
Texture: Very liquidy. Easy to blend and very light weight. However when spreading it over my face it seemed to have tiny particles, felt like sand (associated immediately because of the “Sun BB Cream” to the beach) but it didn’t scratch or hurt, just felt weird. It’s a sample, I have no idea if it was in good condition or not!
Coverage: Light coverage and it did not take care of the redness on my face. It doesn’t have a powdery finish or matte finish. But it’s not very glowy.
In this picture seems to work well. The red on my cheeks is from the blush.

Oil-Control: Does not work for my skin. It will get shiny after no more than two hours but that’s because of the oil. On my skin it has bad oil-control. I’m at home right now and I’m fighting the urge to go and wash my face because I don’t know if I’m still going out or not. You feel your face is oily. Even after the Etude House Dr Oil Powder. Considering how good the powder is, it means the bb cream is very oily.
Longevity: Will melt. If I run my fingers through my face bb cream will come out!
Would I buy this: I will not. It did not even-out my skin tone and has a very light coverage. No oil-control on my face (my poor T-Zone and my chin, my POOR, POOR chin is so oily). The colour would work better than the Lioele I tried a few days ago but nothing else works!

In this picture however, you can see the redness on my forehead and chin. And mind you this was a picture taken with light focusing on my face!!! You can also see some oily parts…

In the mean time my Etude House Mineral BB cream and orange lipstick has arrived at my sister’s house. Still have to wait until Friday to try it out and considering these two samples I tried, I’m very nervous!!!! I really hope this Etude House one works. I’ve read so many reviews and so many people seem to like it, I hope I become one of those! Thanks everyone!!

Randomness and Lioele petit review

Came to spend the weekend is Cascais as usually. Shame it’s cloudy and raining. Spring has also arrived, in the calendar, but still cold.  Rain is needed but the weather could be a bit warmer. Also next week we have a family lunch because my cousin, a well renowned Historian and became a successful author a few years ago; João Paulo Oliveira e Costa is going to become 50 this year, on April fool’s day and it is a very good opportunity to gather the WHOLE family! Just wish next Sunday the weather  will be on our side and becomes warm and sunny!

Today I decided to use a sample I had from Lioele: Lioele Beyond the Solution BB cream. My sister and I both used it today so the sample was completely used. Don’t have any pictures of swatches but this is just a tiny opinion, based on one day usage.
Shade: My sister is extremely fair so it did not work on her at all!!!! It was horrible. It’s very dark for her. I also did not like the shade on my face, thought it was a bit dark as well. Prefer the Skin79 Dream Girls (pink package) BB cream.
Texture: Very liquid, very easy to blend actually and it feels very light. It doesn’t have that dewy finish, but after a few hours it feels like you have powder on your face. And my face doesn’t feel moisturised.
Coverage: Medium to full. A little can cover a lot of skin. Scars can’t be hidden. Lighter pimples, can be covered. About the pores… does not work that well. My sister has larger pores and it was horrible. You could see them even more. And just a while ago I passed my hand through my nose and it wasn’t smooth.
Oil-Control: Seems to be quite nice. It lasted a full 5 hours without looking or feeling oily.
Longevity: It’s night and I still have the bb cream on my face. It lasted through the whole day, including a couple of hours at the mall where it was hot. But it did not melt or anything.
Would I buy this: Well I would not. Although the oil control is very good and does not feel heavy at all even with a very good coverage, don’t like the colour, my skin doesn’t feel soft and smooth, feels a bit dry actually. Also becomes a bit cakey. Doesn’t look natural. You can’t tell by the picture but it really doesn’t look natural, especially if someone comes closer to my face…
You can see my forehead is a bit shiny, but this was after those 5 hours that I mentioned. I know the picture doesn’t show much how fake it looks, but when my sister looked closely at me she didn’t like the effect, compared to the Skin 79 one.
And how is the weather in other countries everyone?

Sana and Etude House Powder_5

Oil-Control: Sana has nice oil control. It controlled the oil better when applied alone over sunscreen or moisturizer. I usually applied it twice a day, whether cold or hot. On colder days it would last around 4 to 5 hours without looking oily. In the summer it lasted a bit less, but not a very significant change. I would use it twice a day, but then again I don’t really freak out if my make-up doesn’t look perfect. On really HOT days it didn’t last more than a couple of hours. However, looking back at pictures taken throughout the day, I don’t remember my face getting to the point of looking like you could fry an egg! It did managed to hide a bit of the pores, but not that much.

Etude House has very good oil control. The two times I tried without anything underneath, it worked just about the same. So it serves its purpose of controlling oil. Have been using it for little more than a month and we’re in winter. I can say that this powder, on my face, can hold up to 6 hours without looking oily. It’s matte finish but after a couple of hours the glowing of the bb cream will start to show, it’s really that “healthy glow” and NOT, I repeat, NOT oil on my face! Antishine effect will last for about 4 hours, but again NO OIL!!!!! So can’t tell how it would work for summer yet. But regarding the oil control, I think Etude House Dr Oil works better for me.
Picture of me by midday with just my Skin79 bb cream. As you can see, after about 3 to 4 hours it starts to get a bit shiny. You can see a little on my forehead between my eyebrows.
After applying the Etude House Dr Oil. Can you tell any BIG difference, besides not being shiny? I’m almost the exact same colour as the picture above, maybe a bit lighter.  But the powder is very sheer compared to the Sana one.

Would I buy this again: I’m still very new to make-up, so I have many things to try. I think they are both nice products; overall I like the Etude House one better but when I finish it or if hot weather comes first, I will try to buy a powder with a nice coverage to use alone. But for winter, since I’ve been using bb cream every day I would probably buy the Etude House Dr Oil again.
Will remind this again: NO breakouts or allergic reactions to either of them!

Hope this helped. Sorry if it was very long, but I wrote the information I usually seek when checking for products myself.
My Skin79 Lovely Girl BB cream, which I have already reviewed, is coming to an end really fast! It lasted me a whole year. Just waiting for my new bb cream to arrive, hopefully before April 1st, when we have a family reunion and don’t know if the Skin79 will last me until then… The awaited BB cream is Etude House Precious Mineral BB cream (All day strong) shade #1 supposed to be for oily skin. Can’t wait!
